Let's say you got a deep cut on your finger. What do you do? You go see a doctor and get proper treatment or surgery that can make the cut look like it was never there. Paint correction is the same concept. You get swirls and deep scratches (cut in the finger) from automatic car washes, improper washing, and various other circumstances, you come to me (doctor) to get your paint corrected (treatment/surgery) to remove those defects and bring a hidden depth and shine you were missing out on.
Don't know what you're looking for or what your car needs? Don't worry. We do free vehicle evaluation for you to decide what fits best for you!
Here's our paint correction process:
-
Decontamination Wash to thoroughly clean your painted surfaces.
-
Tape off sensitive plastic trims to decrease the chances of them staining.
-
The paint is polished to your desired level.
-
Dedicated paint surface prep is used to remove any polishing residue.
-
The paint is then thoroughly inspected to ensure its desired level has been reached.
-
All the cracks and crevices will be cleaned
-
Protection of your desire is then applied.
All-in-One Polish (20%+ correction):
This is for those looking for light correction and adding a layer of protection at the same time, hence the name, all-in-one. While it does not remove all the swirls and scratches, it provides more depth and shines to the paint. It is ideal for new cars that do not have a lot of paint defects or heavily used daily drivers that need some pop to the paint.

Estimated time: 4 - 6 hrs

Starting from: $500

Quick Polish/Paint Enhancement (30%+ correction):
Similar to All-in-One Polish, Quick Polish is designed to give a pop to the paint but instead of having protection on, it gives a bit more correction. Light swirls will be removed and the depth of paint will increase.
Perfect for people who are looking to get a bit more value when they're selling their cars or daily drivers seeking extra gloss.

Estimated time: 4 - 6 hrs

Starting from: $600

One Stage Paint Correction (50%+ correction):
I used the term correction instead of polishing. While the One Step Paint Correction is not different from polishing, the old-school terminology polishing can be confusing and misleading. Polishing is known as the refinement stage. It usually comes after compounding which leaves a hazy finish that is refined by polishing. However, since the technology is evolving rapidly, those refinement products now can remove surface defects quite effectively.
Swirls and scratches are like hills and valleys. Instead of reflecting lights directly like on the flat surface, these hills and valleys will trap those light's reflection and show it right to your eyes. One stage correction aims to remove swirl marks and light scratches on the paint, essentially flattening the surface.
Recommended for new cars with minimal defects and/or cars preparing for waxing or ceramic coating.
Estimated time: 6- 8 hrs

Starting from: $800

Two-Stage Paint Correction (80%+ correction):
This is where things start to get serious. You just bought a car that you don't know the history of, and the car is just filled with scratches light and deep everywhere. Your car is badly "injured" and needs to be fixed. This is where the Two-Stage Paint Correction comes in.
The paint is compounded to remove heavy defects*** such as deeper scratches and heavy swirls using a cutting pad and compound. After the compounding step, the paint is then thoroughly polished to remove all the haziness that compounding has created(normal process) and result in amazing gloss and shine using a finishing pad and polish.
Recommended for cars that have heavy defects and imperfections.
Estimated time: 1 - 2 days

Starting from: $1200

Multi-Stage Paint Correction (90%+ correction):
What the heck is multi-stage paint correction? There are more steps to it. Do I need it?
Well in short answer, no. This isn't for everyone. But this is for people who want the absolute best, if lusting for that perfect finish, or if your car wants it. When I say if their car wants it, it means their paints are so delicate that they need a lot of attention. Every car's paint is different even if they're from the same manufacturer and have the same color. Usually, cars that have soft paint will require more attention.

Recommended for cars that have finicky finishes (will be determined upon test stop and inspection)

Estimated time: 2 - 3 days

Starting from: $2000

Classic Paint Protection FAQs
Do you come to me?
Yes. TKDETAILS offers a mobile detailing service that can be performed at your home, apartment, or your work location.
How long does the result last?
Maintenance is key to keeping your car glossy and shiny. It's like training your pet to sit on command. You can't just tell them once and think they'll know it forever. You have to continually train them and repeat the commands.
The same goes for cars that are paint-corrected. You need to properly and routinely wash and dry your car in order to maintain a swirl-free finish. Otherwise, you're back to square one.
Do you need access to water or power?
While we do not need water, having a power source is a plus for yielding better results. However, the work can be done without power. TKDETAILS use a wide variety of pads, polishes/compounds, machines, towels, and lights to accommodate a variety of situations.
Do you need a garage?
While performing in a cool, covered garage is recommended for paint correction, with our experience and expertise, the paint correction can be done in an outdoor environment depending on the condition of the vehicle.
What's the difference between wax and paint correction?
Wax does not remove any swirls or scratches from your paint. It may hide very minor swirls which are usually done within a few hours. Paint correction actually removes the swirls and/or scratches in your paint. This is what makes your paint shine crazy. The process takes substantially more time and energy to complete compared to applying wax.

Side Notes:
At TKDETAILS, we look at paint correction a little differently from other detailers. The majority of the time, they will tell you or try to make the paint absolutely perfect. While it looks great, it isn't always the best choice to make.
Clearcoat not only makes your car's paint shiny but also protects the surface underneath from outside elements to prevent oxidation, rust, etc. There is only a finite amount of clear coat on the car's paint.
Each year that the car goes through, the clear coat naturally degrades and becomes fragile if not taken care of, which makes it very dangerous for the paint. When one tries to get every single scratch and paint correction is performed to the point where there is a little bit of clear coat left on the car, now your paint is compromised. Let me give you an example. You just got your 10-year-old car nice and shiny. You take care of it down the road for a few years and now it's got some love mark here and there and now you want to make it good again. But oh no. There's no more clear coat left for your car to get corrected. This is just like scratching your skin. It feels good when you quench that itch but if you keep scratching it, you'll feel pain and see blood.
For this reason, every paint correction performed at TKDETAILS always has PRESERVATION in mind before considering removing severely heavy defects. With the expertise and experience, we can determine what's the right choice for you and have the best result in the safest way.
